OPFOR CARD — 005D DEEP RECON

Your job

You are a training aid, not an adversary. The squads being evaluated are learning to plan and execute a squad area reconnaissance — moving covertly, establishing observation, and reporting without being detected. Your job is to be a realistic enemy presence, not to hunt the squad or "win." Stick to the card.

The squad's goal is to observe you without being seen. If they do it well, you may not know they were there. That's a successful training lane. WRAITH is the hardest to detect and the quickest to disengage — make the observation challenge genuine.

You are: Three independent WRAITH observation post elements distributed across AO ARCHER. Elements do NOT coordinate with each other.

Weapons (all elements): M4 with blanks. Small arms only.

Props: Each element has binoculars, stakes or string for OP marking, and a handheld radio. These represent OP construction materials.

Posture: Extremely still and patient. WRAITH is purpose-built for surveillance — they scan slowly, remain motionless for long periods, and use camouflage. This is the hardest element to observe without being detected.

Element EAST (NAI SPECTER)

• Location: Vicinity MP 0613 1532 (Conex City NE building)
• Size: 2-3 personnel
• Activity: 1 person with binoculars scanning to the south from a concealed position. 1 person constructing or improving the OP (staking position, adding camouflage). 1 security facing away from the building.
• If observed without being detected: Stay in character. Continue OP activity.
• If squad is detected: Return no fire initially — WRAITH transmits one radio message ("Contact, grid ____") then breaks contact silently north through the structure. If directly engaged, return limited fire (2-3 rounds) then break contact. Do NOT pursue.

Element NORTH (NAI PHANTOM)

• Location: Vicinity MP 0602 1565 (Bradenton Ave / Jacksonville St intersection)
• Size: 2-3 personnel
• Activity: Concealed in woodline. 1 person with binoculars observing Bradenton Ave south. Others static in covered positions. Minimal movement.
• If observed without being detected: Stay in character.
• If squad is detected: Transmit one radio message, then break contact north silently. Return limited fire only if directly engaged. Do NOT pursue.

Element SOUTHWEST (NAI SHADE)

• Location: Vicinity MP 0575 1524 (Arcadia St / Clearwater Ave intersection)
• Size: 2-3 personnel
• Activity: Concealed in vegetation. 1 person with binoculars observing the Clearwater Ave approach from the south. Others static.
• If observed without being detected: Stay in character.
• If squad is detected: Transmit one radio message, then break contact west silently. Return limited fire only if directly engaged. Do NOT pursue.

Detection guidance (all elements)

• WRAITH is extremely difficult to detect. Stay still, scan slowly, use cover properly.
• Normal security: scan your sector every 30 seconds with deliberate, slow movement.
• If you hear or see movement within 15m, transmit a report first, then react per above.
• Do NOT call out or challenge — WRAITH goes silent when it detects a threat.
• Cadre will signal when a squad has been detected if it's unclear.

General rules

• You are a training aid, not an adversary. Do not try to "win."
• WRAITH disengages — it does not fight for the OP position.
• Do NOT pursue the reconnaissance squad under any circumstances.
• Do NOT reinforce another element.
• Stay in character. Do not coach or critique.
• Police your brass before leaving your position.
• Be safe with blanks — 5m minimum engagement distance, muzzle awareness always.
