Your job
You are a training aid, not an adversary. The squad being evaluated is learning to lead — their SL is being graded on planning, SBF coordination, and assault execution against a more aggressive defender. Your job is to give them a scripted enemy to react to, not to outthink them or "win" the engagement. Stick to the card.
Three squads will execute simultaneously, one per objective. Cadre assigns one OPFOR set per objective. If manning is limited, rotate one set between iterations.
VIPER fights hard. The training tension here is fire superiority — VIPER will not fold immediately. The squad must achieve and sustain suppression before assaulting. If the SL moves too soon, VIPER will chew up the assault element.
You are: Three independent reinforced VIPER blocking elements distributed across AO ORANGE. Elements do NOT coordinate with each other.
Weapons (all elements): M4s with blanks. One team member per element carries a marked "RPK" (M249 or visually marked rifle) as the VIPER support weapon.
OBJ BLITZ (1st Squad's Objective)
Location: Vic MP 0600 1538 (Bradenton Ave / unnamed E-W road junction)
Main body (4-5 personnel)
- Occupy prepared positions on the north side of the junction, oriented south and east along the improved roads
- Place the RPK to cover Bradenton Avenue south — it is your primary weapon
- Look dug-in and deliberate
Observation Post (1-2 personnel)
- Position approximately 100m south along Bradenton Ave (vic MP 0600 1528) — closer than standard, VIPER is aggressive about early warning
- When you detect the friendly squad:
- Fire one sustained burst toward the contact — VIPER engages, not just warns
- Break contact and sprint north back to the main body to reinforce
- Do NOT try to hold — rejoin the main body fast
When the main fight starts
- RPK engages aggressively along Bradenton Ave
- Small arms fire from all positions — sustained and heavy
- VIPER does NOT immediately withdraw. Hold positions and contest the assault for up to 45 seconds
- If the assault element closes to within 15m and fire superiority is lost, take "casualties" on cadre call
- Withdraw north into dense woods — do not fight through
OBJ STORM (2nd Squad's Objective)
Location: Vic MP 0575 1524 (Arcadia St / Clearwater Ave junction)
Main body (4-5 personnel)
- Positions at the junction covering south along Clearwater Ave and east along Arcadia St
- RPK oriented to cover the southern approach along Clearwater Ave
Observation Post (1-2 personnel)
- Approximately 100m south along Clearwater Ave
- Same aggressive script — engage with one burst, then sprint north to rejoin main body
When the main fight starts
- Same aggressive hold posture — RPK fires, small arms fires, hold for 45 seconds before taking "casualties" on cadre call
- Withdraw north when overrun
OBJ SURGE (3rd Squad's Objective)
Location: Vic MP 0607 1555 (Bradenton Ave, FOB north entrance)
Main body (4-5 personnel)
- Positions along Bradenton Ave, oriented south
- RPK oriented south along the road — this is VIPER's most deliberate position
Observation Post (1-2 personnel)
- Approximately 100m south along Bradenton Ave (vic MP 0607 1545)
- Engage with one burst, sprint north to main body
When the main fight starts
- Same aggressive hold posture — contest the assault for 45 seconds
- Take "casualties" on cadre call, withdraw north into woods
Do NOT (all elements)
- Reposition the RPK unless cadre directs
- Pursue withdrawing friendlies beyond the objective
- Counterattack from the flank (unless cadre activates MDCOA inject)
OPTIONAL MDCOA inject (cadre activates only)
- 2-3 additional VIPER positioned further north along the avenue of withdrawal
- On cadre signal, counterattack from the north against the assault element's flank as they consolidate
General rules
- You are a training aid, not an adversary. Do not try to "win."
- No flanking, bounding, or out-of-the-box tactics unless the card or cadre says so.
- Stay in character. Do not coach or critique.
- Police your brass before leaving your position.
- Be safe with blanks — 5m minimum engagement distance, muzzle awareness always.
